Becoming a volunteer firefighter takes a lot of dedication and first a person must complete many steps.

Before you take any steps towards becoming a volunteer firefighter you must decide whether or not you are able to make such a commitment. Volunteer firefighters make a commitment not only to the fire department and the community but to themselves. The program is very rigorous and difficult, if you honestly don't think you have what it takes then don't apply. It is better to not join at all than breaking a commitment you made and not going through with the regimen.

It is best that before you start the process you be in good physical condition. To be a firefighter it takes amazing amount of strength and a near endless supply of stamina.
