Consider A New Solar Air Compressor

By Ricky Green

We rely on electricity every day. Most of the fuel we burn comes from fossil fuels in the form of natural gas or oil. The problem with that is that fossil fuels are harmful to the environment. It is great when companies, individuals, and scientists go out of their way to develop green technology that does not have an adverse effect on the planet.

People all over the world are researching and investigating new ways to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels. Many independent companies are doing what they can to help. One innovation of note is the solar powered air compressor.

You've probably heard of an air compressor, even if you don't know exactly what it does. An air compressor powered by solar power does the same thing as a regular air compressor, but it is powered by the sun instead of fuel or electricity.

You may think that is a great idea, but still not be sure what on earth is an air compressor and why would anyone need one? Air compressors literally compress air into such a small space that it becomes highly pressurized. The air is then used to drive motors and machinery. Air compressors are often used to power drills used by oil and gas companies drilling in remote places where electricity is not readily available. Solar power makes powering these air compressors much easier.

It may seem odd to use solar powered drills to reach fossil fuels, but that's how it is done. This use of solar power may only be a small step toward a greener environment; however, it is doing something that counts. Solar powered air compressors generate power only from the solar panels, so they cannot be run at night. The best thing about a solar air compressor is that it is green technology and moves us toward greater environmental responsibility.

Perhaps you do not need a giant solar powered drill, but there are number of alternative uses for solar powered technology. The ability to harness solar power has been used to charge and run items as small as a phone or laptop. There are even smaller solar air compressors with run smaller drills and machinery.

A solar powered air compressor is not much different in function from a standard air compressor. The chief difference is that power is generated from the sun instead of fossil fuels or electricity. Solar powered air compressors are sold with everything you need to get them running. - 21396
