Scooter Maintenance is just as important as maintaining your car or home. If you want your stuff to last long and avoid the high cost of replacement, preventive maintenance is a must. Here is some ideas on maintaining your scooter.

Changing your oil regularly is perhaps the most important maintenance item. Besides checking your oil levels regularly, it is a good idea to change the oil every 1000 miles. This is the most economical way to keep your engine running efficiently and continually. Changing the oil of your transmission is also recommended every 2000 miles or 6 months. Your owners manual will give you suggestions on proper scheduling.

Checking your tire pressure is perhaps the easiest step in maintaining your scooter. It is important to check your pressure regularly and maintain the suggest tire pressure from your owners manual. Since scooters only have two wheels, low tire pressure could lead in losing control of your moped scooter more easily thus causing possible injuries.

Ensuring the scooter is properly assembled is often ignored when doing maintenance checks. Joints and hinges could become loose during operation, so it is a good idea to check and correct looseness prior to riding your scooter. It could be a good habit to check bolt tightness more regularly than the suggest 1000 miles or 6 months standard maintenance schedule.
