Hydrogen For Cars Represents Way The Ahead

By Adrian Fletcher

As gas prices continue to rise to unprecedented levels, every available resource is being investigated to replace fossil fuels by august official bodies like the energy commission to the average Joe and Josephine in the street. Hydrogen fuel cells seem to be a possible alternative. Hydrogen for cars will not only provide the chance to explore new energy sources; it will also open up better potential for us to improve how we travel overall.

Hydrogen gas is an important contender to replace fossil fuels as an energy source for combustion engines. It can be found in most things including water to the compost heap in your backyard. The high degree of availability makes hydrogen gas a valuable and attractive resource to consider.

The methods for the production of hydrogen for cars vary greatly, but all are more efficient and cleaner than fossil fuel production. For example a refinery for gasoline production that would require three hundred billion gallons of water to produce gasoline, would be require one million gallons of water if it were producing the same amount of hydrogen.

The gallon of gasoline equivalent to hydrogen costs about half as much as gasoline but improves fuel economy by over two-thirds more. Hydrogen fuel also decreases engine operating temperatures, all but eliminating emissions as well as the unwanted carbon footprint.

A big problem hindering the production of hydrogen-fueled vehicles is the lack of available hydrogen fuel. In the future, home hydrogen refueling stations may become a realistic possibility, but they are not currently affordable for most people.

If cars were to run exclusively on electricity generated on board from hydrogen fuel a new paradigm in vehicle design would emerge. The equipment needed to propel a car would be much more basic, and smaller doing away with many design limitations. Some of these limitations include having to design around a heat-producing engine, and bulky floorboard configurations that currently are required for driveline equipment.

Hydrogen for cars will become more cost effective as hydrogen production increases, creating a new era of energy consumption. Using hydrogen will decrease society's dependence on fossil fuels, an added benefit for the environment. The reality is that gas prices will not retreat much from this current high mark, which will only increase the pace at which hydrogen fueled cars and the equipment needed to make them a reality develops. - 21396

Most localities require a teen driver to procure a learners permit before getting a full license. The statistics on teen driving aren't good. They show that male drivers under the age of 20 are 75% more likely to have a vehicular accident than their adult and female counterparts. Aa driving lessons will get your student ready for the road.

With data like this, you realize you must get your children the best lessons possible before they drive a vehicle. Teen drivers need to know one important truth, that driving is not a given, it's something they must earn. Part of earning the privilege is doing well in driving school. Because of the insurance hikes for teen drivers, most public schools no longer offer student driving courses. Parents must now carry the burden of getting lessons for their kids.

When you first get to driving school, you will be instructed on the essential truths about the risks of teenaged driving. Often, counties or localities mandate that a driver receive a provisional license before starting a car. Because of this, a student has to receive instruction on driving basics first. In the beginning, you will learn basic principals that everyone has to know in order to drive. Laws may vary, depending on location.

Students will learn the fundamental rules of the road. They are instructed how to stop, when to stop and who stops first at traffic signals and signs. Students must learn about how a vehicle operates in order to prepare for operating one. They may have in class vehicle training before getting into a real car, first.

Once you have passed preliminary exams that let your instructor know you are prepared to drive in real time, you will get on the road. You will be driving in a vehicle that has been specially equipped with dual driving controls. This is to provide protection to you, the instructor and the vehicle. In the event something goes wrong or the instructor thinks you need help, he/she will be able to take over immediately.

You will most likely begin driving on a course or in a large, empty lot. This is so you can get used to the way the brakes feel, where the gas pedal is and how to turn the steering wheel just the right amount. Once you feel comfortable, you're ready to get out on the open road.

Starting out, chances are good that you will be driving in an area where there isn't much traffic. Instruction will be broken up between class instruction and real world lessons. As you grow as a driver, you will spend more time on the open road. A typical drivers instruction program combines 20 hours of class time and 20-30 hours of on road time.

After you have finished these class and on road hours, you will take a preliminary exam. The exam will show your trainer that you are prepared to take the actual exam for your drivers' license. Typically a student can take the exam three times before they are required to go back for further lessons. As long as you pay attention to your instruction, you should pass on the first try. - 21396

How Do You Settle with Rental Car Damages?

By Amy Nutt

Receiving damage to a car that you have rented can be a very stressful experience. Those who do not have the appropriate collision and liability insurance can find themselves in the middle of a serious financial crisis. When settling car rental damages, there are a number of considerations that one should be aware of to ensure a trouble free resolution.

When you rent a car, you will usually have insurance through your own car insurance policy, or insurance that is available through your credit card, or you will have obtained insurance through the car rental company. It is important to be aware of the limitations that may be attached to a credit card's car rental insurance policy. As well, some rental car insurance policies will include comprehensive coverage, but there may be limits imposed on what and how much they will cover.

The process of submitting a claim requires completing a number of actions as outlined in your insurance policy. The process can vary, but generally, you need to do the following:

1. If your insurance is provided either by your credit card company, rental car insurance company, or your own car insurance company, you will have to contact them directly.

2. Each company will have their own form that you will have to fill out. You will have to send the form and all appropriate documents to the company. Some insurance companies have online forms that can be downloaded and filled out.

3. To claim for loss or damages to the rental car, you will need to provide the following:

Proof of the rental agreement. (submitting a copy) Rental car inspection report prior to renting the car. This includes the walk around report that the car rental companies use to identify any scratches, dents, and other damages before you rented the car. A copy of the police report A copy of the damage inspection after the car was returned to the rental company A copy of the repair invoice or damage estimate from the rental agency. It will include an itemized repair list A receipt for repairs

4. To pursue your claim for losses resulting from rental car damage, you will be provided with a contact mailing address where you mail your claim. Once costs and damages have been determined, the insurance company will provide the coverage.

There may possibly be a dispute over repair charges. An insurance company has the right to send a claims adjustor to inspect the damaged car before it is repaired or disposed of. If you don't have insurance, a rental company can make repairs without an inspection. It is important to be aware that if you are not adequately covered, you may incur some expenses. Some rental car agreements may require that one reimburses for the full value of the car. You should check to make sure you have the appropriate coverage. As well, some agreements require immediate reimbursement for damages, so they may immediately charge your credit card.

There may be other expenses that you are not covered for that can include: administrative fees, towing expenses, storage fees, and inspection and appraisal fees. It is important to read the fine print of your insurance policy to make sure you are comfortable with your coverage.

Purchasing the right insurance for a rental car can make all the difference if you suddenly find yourself in a potentially expensive car accident. When you pick up your car from the car rental company, make sure you inspect the exterior for damage. Being prepared will provide you with peace of mind when you are on the road. In the event of an accident, it will be a lot less stressful if you know exactly what steps have to be taken to settle any damages. - 21396
