The Best Of Buick SUV: Buick Enclave

By Kyle Hanson

On May 2007, Buick launched their new SUV model for 2008: the Buick Enclave. Buick is a division of General Motors. This new model is partly based on Buick Centieme and is a full-size luxury crossover SUV. Buick Enclave replaced other Buick SUV's like the minivan-based Rendezvous, the truck-based Rainer, as well as the Terraza minivan. Similar to the GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Traverse and Saturn Outlook, Buick Enclave also uses the new GM Lambda platform.

The Buick Enclave has a seating capacity of 7 passengers, and has an optional second row bench. This increases its seating capacity to eight. It has almost the same platform and mechanical underpinning with the Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse. Though, it comes with a standard front-wheel drive with an option of an all wheel drive.

In it's initial year of production, Enclave also shares similar power trains with its Lambda siblings and was powered by a 275 hp (205 kW) 3.6 L High Feature V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. According to United States Environmental Protection Agency this direct-injection engine is praised for offering a broader torque curve, bringing fuel efficiency to 17 mpg-us (14 L/100 km; 20 mpg-imp)/24 mpg-US (9.8 L/100 km; 29 mpg-imp) for FWD models and 16 mpg-US (15 L/100 km; 19 mpg-imp)/22 mpg-US (11 L/100 km; 26 mpg-imp) for AWD models. The 2009 model, 3.6L V6 SIDI (direct injected) VVT with 286 hp (213kW) and 225ft. lbf (346 N.m) has a torque standard similar to the 2009 Lambda.

GM vehicles are built on their new Delta Township Assembly Plant near Lansing Michigan. They started producing the Enclave on 11 April 2007 with its first vehicles reaching certain dealers by the end of the month. It first debuted with a starting price of $32,790. But GM increased its warranty to 5 year/100,000-mile power train coverage instead of the normal 4 year/50,000-mile basic warranties.

About 1 inch (25mm) longer that it's Lambda siblings, enclave was considered the largest uni-body vehicle. Enclave was often praised because of its subsequently huge cargo space while maintaining the relatively dynamic nature of uni-body construction over the conventional body-on-frame. Enclave was also praised because it is considered as one of the quietest vehicles available in the United States, and also for the quality of its interior design. The Buick Enclave is also often referred to as the "best vehicle GM makes". Lastly many admire this SUV because of its good looks.

Weighing almost 5,000 pounds (2,300 kg) with all-wheel-drive it has been considered too heavy. And it is also often criticized for its 6-speed transmission, which results to its uncertain downshift. But on 2009 the power train was even more competent and with more abundant torque. - 21396

Why Should You Paint Your Car Yourself Instead of Paying Workshops

By Ulrich Fieldman

There are disadvantages and advantages with painting your car yourself and going to the workshop to paint.

Reasons to Paint Your Individual Car.

One.Its a money saver or at least can be if you do it right of course. If you dont take the time to study to do it the right way then it can still be an expensive endeavor.

Two. its a great achievement to finished this task then be able to step back and look at the good job you've done.

Three. If you are into car restoration, it is one way you can cut down your expenses.

4. Often theres preliminary work that you would have to do yourself before you get to the point of car painting itself.

Reasons To Paint Your Shop In A Car

One. It's most likely a time saver. Unless you have the additional time to spend car painting, then this would be the route you want to go. Do not forget theres more to it than just putting the paint on.

2. The shop more than likely has much better car painting tools then you will have. This signifies they could get a pretty finish.

3. Their paint may be better than yours

4. They know how to complete the essential body work first as they've professionals on staff specifically for that job.

5. Reputable organisations will stand behind their work. In other words they will give you whatever type of guarantee.

Six. They have the commercial products to clean the car prior to car painting, which's extremely fundamental.

7. They have the correct facilities, whereas if you do it yourself you will not be able to protect the car against the components in case you cannot get it finished.

So as you can see there're good and bad points for both arguments. If you can improvise and create the same circumstances as for the favourable points of utilising a shop then you will want to consider it. Car painting is a tough undertaking. Another thing you will want to consider too is the value of the car. Say it is a 2nd motor vehicle or a pretty old one then maybe you don't want to pay the price of having it professionally painted. In this case you will probably be further ahead to do the car painting yourself. In these circumstances small flaws in the overall work is not going to make that much of a difference.

The other point is if you've whatsoever experience with car painting or even other types of spray painting then you would be able to do a great job with out putting it into a shop. These're all things you'll need to consider. If you decide that you are going to do it yourself though it will be a better idea to read a few how to books or watch a video on the subject. - 21396

By Laney Ball

If you really think that you wish to paint a car then get ready for a full task ahead of you. It doesnt mean that you can't or shouldn't do it, it just signifies be sure you're ready to see the job done from beginning to end. If you don't finish the job entirely or the right way then youre going to be driving something that may be a bit embarrassing to the eye at the least.

To paint a car takes careful planning and ensuring that you've all of the supplies you need and the time to go through at least a couple of the stages.

There are things that you're going to need by way of supplies. You would need masking tape, dust mask, goggles, sandpaper, wax/grease remover, primer paint, paper for covering, car wash and detergent, paint sprayer, putty with knife.

When you purchase your sand paper be sure you purchase fine and thick grit, as you may need both textures. The amount of primer and urethane based paint you need would be dependent on the size of your car. Whether you want to use a paint sprayer is your choice, if you choose not to then the regular spray paint cans would do fine. Make sure you wear appropriate clothing when you go to paint a car so your skin isnt revealed.

Lastly be sure you've the right space to work in. You require to be able to work around your car. You most surely need good ventilation, and you will need to be able to protect it against the elements.

Firstly you must actually wash your car well. It does not matter how clean it may look to you unless you just washed it, there'll be whatsoever debris on it that you must take out, otherwise the paint will not adhere the right way. Then once you have it washed nice and clean you've to get all the old wax off it so that's where the wax/greaser remover comes in. It is really important you go through these steps when you go to paint a car.

You'll in all likelihood notice that you've a few rough spots on your current finish. If you go to paint a car that's in this condition, you would not get good coverage with the new paint. Put little pit marks made by rocks or things like that just use a little putty to fill them in. The use the sandpaper to softly smooth the rough spots and small holes. Make sure you rub out all the debris from sanding.

In order to paint a car, you must be absolutely certain that its dry after your washing. This'll take few hours. Be certain it doesnt get dirty again. Next masking tape off the areas that you don't want to get paint on.

Entirely prime the car. Then sand it gently once more. Be sure to wipe the residue off.

Now you're ready to apply the base coat of the new colour. Preferably with a spray gun. Totally spray it then let it dry for about fifteen minutes. Then you could apply the second coat. Most often you could get away with two coats.

Let it dry for about one hour then you can apply the clear coat. Let dry 15 minutes then re apply. You will in all probability need about three coats of the clear to get a nice finish. - 21396

Reasons You Should Get A Portable Garage

By Johann Lindh

Many people don't own a garage to store their vehicle. This leaves their cars out in the weather without any protection. Owning a portable garage will solve this problem.

A portable garage consists of a steel tubing frame that is covered by a tarp cover. They allow you to protect any vehicle from getting pelted by rain or snow.

Reasons to buy a portable garage

Portable garages offer many valuable features to anyone who wants a place to store their vehicle without the hassles of building a garage.

The cost: One reason that portable garages are so wonderful is that they are very inexpensive. Compared to the price you will pay for a construction company to build you a new building, a portable garage is practically a steal.

Foundation free: When building a garage you will have to pour a concrete foundation. This can cost you money and time both things that most people cannot afford.

No building permits: When you are planning on having any structure built you will have to get a building permit from the county. By using a portable garage you will save yourself from having to apply for a permit and wait for inspectors to approve your garage.

Quick set up: One of the greatest things about a portable garage is the versatility and ease of set up. It will only take a few minutes to set up the frame of this easily installed garage.

Flexible: Portable garages are great when it comes to protecting your car or truck, but the possibilities are endless when it comes to uses. You can use them for protecting things like boats and lawnmowers or you can protect an outdoor project like finishing a piece of furniture.

Several choices

A portable garage can be made from many different materials including polyester, mesh, and plain canvas tarps. The one you choose will depend on how you plan on using it.

The material is not the only part of this garage that is so versatile. A portable garage can come in many sizes and will cover anything from a lawn tractor to a large bulldozer.

The shapes of a portable garage can be rounded and dome like or more of a tradition house shaped design with a peaked roof.

Portable garages are a great way to protect something that is really valuable to you. They are cost efficient and easy to install making these garages a must have for anyone who wants a new garage without the drawbacks. - 21396
