How To Handle An Incidental Vehicle Accident

By Graham McKenzie

You could be the safest driver in the world. Following all of the basic driving laws and not being distracted by eating, drinking or talking on your cell phone. But driving is not only about you being behind the wheel, but the other people around you behind their wheels. Most people aren't as exacting behind the wheel as you could be, and this is the reason that accidents happen.

One pretty common rule on the road is that everyone is expected to have car insurance. It is illegal in most states to drive around without insurance, and in states that it is not required it is considered decent to have it. Unfortunately, the most common drivers in accidental vehicle accidents are ones without insurance.

After an accident, both people involved are expected to stay on the scene while the police respond to the accident. Both people are also expected to act very humanely and exchange insurance numbers so that the insurance companies can work it out. If the person that you get into an accident with does not have insurance or does not want to see the police, they may drive off in order to try to evade the police.

When you are in the middle of a mishap and you car has been hit, try to maintain equanimity and attempt to note down the vehicle number expecting it to vacate the scene. In case the other driver has been decent enough to park and wait, note down the number, to be on the safer side.

A police report has to be filed for a hit and run incident no matter how small it is in order for your insurance company to be able to file a claim. If you have underinsured or uninsured motorist coverage or hold full coverage on your vehicle the insurance company will handle all the repair and medical expenses that were involved with the accident up to the limits of your policy.

You have to bear the deductible you have as per your policy. You may not have caused the mishap; even then you are expected to cough up the deductible so that your insurance provider can cater to the remaining expenditure. It may not ring right but it is far better than having to bear the entire expense. In a majority of the cases, hit and run drivers abscond from the scene, if you do not act immediately and note down the vehicle number. If the cops do manage to nab the offender, you may apprise your insurance company so that they may take legal action against the offender and claim the amount that is due and if you are keen, you may even drag them to civil court, in order to get back your deductible and any other additional expenses that you may have had to expend on account of the mishap. Hence, your timely alertness at the site of the accident will save you a lot of bother later. - 21396

Why a Bathroom in the Basement Can Be a Good Idea

By Rebetta Tyrkera

Homeowners are a choosy group when it comes to the way their house is being planned and constructed. This is an understandable attitude. After all, if you spent so many hours toiling in order to save money to buy a lot and a dream house, then you only want nothing but the best. This is why architects, engineers, contractors and interior designers are selected only after careful thought and consideration. They must be able to capture what the owner is trying to verbalize as his ideal abode.

All the rooms in the house must adhere to a certain style for a harmonious effect. It will make the house look gorgeous and stylish. If you have dreams of living in European countries, you may opt for a Mediterranean style. Now, if Asian places is more your type, buy Oriental inspired wares or decorations. You may also amplify the style factor of your house by utilizing the proper color scheme. Pastel hues are cool to the eyes so use them if you want a refreshing set up. For a warmer and cozier effect, earth shades like light brown, tan, beige, cream and taupe are the best choices.

Furniture must also be proportional to the size of the living space. There should also be decorative accents to highlight certain areas that are worth talking about such as the hallway or foyer.

With everything in their almost perfect state, you must now focus on the bathroom. There are a lot of reasons why adding a bathroom in the basement is a great idea. Here are three of the most common ones.

First of all, an additional or a spare bathroom can increase the monetary value of your home. No matter where it is located, it still offers ease, comfort and convenience to all the occupants of the house. You can brag this to your guests and visitors the next time they come over. Someday, when it comes to a point that you will sell your house, you will notice that people will flock to you because of your extra bathroom.

Second, even if by some chance the plumbing and drainage system fails, you will not be worried about flooding the entire place since the bathroom is already located in the lowest part of the house. It will be much easier to control and contain. You will also have enough time to call the plumber and have him fix the entire problem. Isn't this a great idea to consider bringing into fruition? After all, the cost will be the same if you build it in other parts of the house.

The third perk of a bathroom in the basement is that you get free more space in the house. Instead of having a cramped bedroom, you can now have a larger one. If you like, you can convert the space into a closet that can be used as a storage area for barely used items. As you can see, more space means more movement. You can skip and hop from point A to point B without worrying that you will bump into another chair or a wall.

So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen! The aforementioned reasons of a basement bathroom and the perks it could offer to its owners. Hopefully, it will help you in your home designing process. - 21396

Harley Davidson Celebrated 105 Years At The Top with Brakes In Their Hubs!

By John Vincent

Who on earth decided that 105 years was a milestone event? Apparently Harley Davidson did. Not content with celebrating their Centenary in style, the ever saturnalian motorcycle manufacturer pulled out all the stops to celebrate their 105th anniversary, almost completely ignoring their loyal owners club who were celebrating a true milestone. 2008 was also the Harley Owners Group's (H.O.G) 25th Silver Anniversary.

To celebrate the occasion were a few notable events. The first was a four day festival of non-stop activities and music in Milwaukee City centred primarily along the lakefront area. The mighty H.O.G. held their event at Miller Park, there was an organised run to the whole thing beginning at 105 separate Harley dealers from all around the states and Harley Davidson themselves released a total of 14 separate models of extremely special limited edition bikes.

These limited edition bikes were all painted in the same anniversary livery of copper and black with matching seat and tank decorations as well as some carefully considered detailing, again in copper or black, to many other parts such as the air cleaners or head casings. Some of the models also received a Harley Davidson first in the form of optional ABS with Brembo brake disks with the top of the range machines fitted as standard.

Not content with implementing an existing system the image-conscious brand felt it necessary to design the system from the bottom up, hiding many of the elements completely from sight within the wheel hubs themselves. The result also ended up being rather lighter than the existing methods would have allowed.

One of the bikes to receive this treatment was the top of the range CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide. Already a bike with more features than a headline festival, including a built in navigation system, Harmon-Kardon stereo system, Cruise Control and even heated seats, the Anniversary edition is truly an incredible touring bike to behold.

The best thing of all though is the engine. It's what makes Harley Davidson's so iconic in the first place and the Twin Cam 110 (1803cc) motor they use in this machine keeps all the character of noise and shake we have come to expect. Extensive rubber mounting ensures the shake stays with the engine though, keeping the rider and passenger free of stress able to enjoy the ride and just listen to that glorious noise.

So who would ride a bike like this? Maybe the same kind or person who would ride a Honda Goldwing? No, I doubt it. This bike might fit into the same category as the ubiquitous 'wing' but it has infinitely more style. After all, it's a Harley Davidson and they know a thing or two about image don't you think? Oh, and did I mention that the brakes work on this one? - 21396

Got Something To Haul, Try A Ford Ranger

By Andy Zain

The Ford Ranger was introduced into the market in 1983. The truck was first introduced as a replacement for the Courier, which had actually been produced by Mazda, but had the Ford name. The Ranger has been produced every year since then and remains one of the most popular sellers of Ford's vehicles.

Since the truck is not a full size truck, Ford wanted to solve a problem that people had with the Courier and other popular small trucks at the time of the Ranger's introduction. That problem was that a 4x8 sheet of material would not fit inside the bed of the truck. The Ranger's bed was large enough for the material to fit, although it still did not fit between the wheel wells as it would in a full size truck.

The cab of the Ranger is designed to hold two passengers comfortably. Some of the extended models have jump seats that will allow a third or fourth passenger to sit facing sideways behind the driver and passenger seats. While the jump seats are small they provide adequate seating for children or small adults. Thus, the Ranger can be a four person vehicle that will also carry four foot sheets of plywood.

The Ranger has proven to be a successful truck for Ford. This model has been produced for over twenty five years and is still a strong seller. The Ranger is now in its forth generation. As the larger F series trucks have changed body styles, the Ranger has mimicked those styles.

For a truck, the Ranger get comparatively better fuel mileage than its larger counterparts. This makes the small truck popular for commuters that want to drive a truck but need the economy of the Ranger.

Currently, the Ford offers a 2. 3 liter or 4. 0 liter engine in the Ranger. For several years, the Ranger was available with a V-6 engine, although that was discontinued in 2009.

When the Ranger was first introduced, it was one of many small trucks being sold. Today, the Ranger, along with its Mazda counter part is the only small truck on the market. Dodge and Toyota have increased the size of the Dakota and Tacoma to mid-sized trucks. Ford has promised to continue to make the Ranger until 2012, although the instability of the United States automakers could affect this promise.

Ford mad the decision a few years ago to spend advertising dollars on the Explorer series rather than the Ranger a few years ago, and the result has been that sales of the Ranger have been lagging. Promises from Ford are that the Ranger will be produced until the 2012 model year. This, in part is due to the demands for better fuel economy.

The Ranger has proved to be a popular vehicle for Ford for over twenty five years. The fuel economy for a truck has been appreciated by many owners. Engine sizes have grown over the years, but as Americans become more concerned about fuel economy, they have started to decrease once again. Fortunately, the newer engines offer more power with less engine displacement and even better fuel economy.

The Ranger has been a popular truck for Ford for many years. It has offered economy along with the ability to haul items in a small truck. The engine sizes have slowly increased and now have once again began to decrease. Newer engine styles offer as much or more power with the smaller engines. With the uncertainty in the automaker's future, it is hoped that Ford can continue to offer the Ford Ranger until it is able to offer other models to replace this good little truck. - 21396
