Are Your HID Headlights Legal?

By David Ostiguy

You either already have HID Headlights installed to your vehicle, or have been planning on installing them to help improve the look of your vehicle and to help see better at nighttime. Maybe you've already shopped around and know what kind of HID Headlights you want to install or you could be trying to figure it out. What you do need to know though is HID Headlights can be illegal to have them added to your vehicle. You may have heard stories about people being ticketed for having HID Lights on their vehicle, but how do you know that you're going to be safe from being pulled over by the Police?

If you look on the box of HID Headlights, usually they say things such as: "DOT Approved." Just to let you know, the DOT has never approved HID Headlights and has no plans of giving them the OK anytime in the future. Do if you get pulled over by the Police and you tell them that your bulbs are DOT approved, there's a good chance that it won't matter.

So how can HID Headlights be illegal when everybody has them installed to their vehicles? Auto manufacturers have begun installing HID Lights to their newer vehicles. These bulbs are OK by the police and there is no need to worry about being pulled over. The problem is usually when the bulbs are installed yourself.

How do I avoid getting into trouble with the law? For starters, stay away from cheap knock off versions of the HID Headlights. When you get pulled over with these types of headlights, you could get into deeper trouble for what they call "impersonating an officer." The reason is because the cheaper versions are actually Halogen bulbs that have a blue lens installed. What the Officer will do is pull out a white sheet of paper and hold it up to the bulb. If the light shines blue, you have a fake. If it shines white, you should be OK.

Other reasons why vehicles are pulled over for HID Headlights is because the bulbs have been improperly installed and blinds other drivers. Be sure that your bulbs are properly placed and not blinding other people.

Also if your HID Headlights are glaring and bouncing off traffic signs, you will get pulled over. It's safe to stay with 6000k-8000k HID Headlights in order to prevent being pulled over. - 21396

Tips On Buying A Car At Used Car Auctions

By Jack Logan

The price you pay for at used car auctions is always higher than what you originally bid. Lets not forget about the buyers premium and this can range from a few hundred dollars all the way up to a couple thousand dollars. It can be ten percent of the bid of maybe just five. When you get caught up in the excitement of a bid it is easy to forget about the buyers premium.

Always make sure that the contract says how many days you have before you need to get the title. If it does happen to take them longer to get the title to you then you can always get your money beck because this is a breach of contract on their behalf. I personally do not think it is safe to bid on a vehicle unless there is a title there.

So when it comes to going to an auction to buy a car, always assume the worst. If you get a bad feeling about something you can always trust that this is probably not a good thing and you should trust your own instincts. Do not be stupid and think that you're gonna get lucky and that someone who scams you will get justice served upon them. This rarely ever happens.

There are a lot of places you can find auto auctions on-line and there are a lot of vehicles that you can get for a cheap price if you just use your head and remain calm and make sure to always keep a clear head and do not rush into things. If you rush into things this could result in you possibly getting a lemon.

A lot of auctions do a slim to nil car title check. The car auction then gives you nothing that guarantees that the title to the car is a clean title. Auto auctions will try to cut corners and do the bare minimum title check and most of them are not deep checks by far.

In my opinion, before you get the car I would suggest getting on-line and doing a title check no matter what the auction says. An auto check report is the only thing that you have to protect you from fraud. Remember all that the buyer is trying to do is make a buck and they do not care what they have to say or do to get that money and get rid of that car.

You always have to pay a higher price than what you actually bid for the car, this alone should tell you how terrible these auctions are. There sometimes is a buyers premium. So this means that you will have to pay at least a thousand or more on top of the price that you win the car for, and lets not forget you also have to pay for taxes on the car.

No matter what, always make sure that what you get is going to be worth the money that you pay for it because you do not want to get something that is a piece of crap and end up paying way more for it than what it is worth. - 21396

How To Find A Good Japanese Car Exporter

By Gregory Barton

There Is A Great Japanese Car Exporter

At the first sign of Japanese cars in the United States there was an uproar as patriotic Americans thought that their market would be threatened. They were worried that the cars would not be of the right quality and there were of course also concerns that this would mean a loss of jobs. These points are now no longer an area of concern and cars from this country are now in high demand. You need to make sure you have a good source for a Japanese car exporter.

If you want to avoid the hassle of having to deal with those unique people who sell cars then a company that does this sort of thing could be the answer for you. It is definitely a very good idea if you happen to be a car dealer as it makes a lot more sense to have a direct contact with the market. In this way you know that you are likely to save costs.

There are various things that you have to take into account when you are trying to locate the best service provider. First of all you have to make sure that the company you are going to deal with is actually reputable. One way of doing this is to ask the company that you have found whether or not they have a license, they are usually able to show you some form of registration document that they have acquired.

The next thing you should take care to ascertain is the delivery time that they are likely to take. A lot of activity in this industry has to do with timing and they are likely to wait until they have a big enough order to warrant a shipment. So just make sure that you go to more than one company and see what their lead times are like.

You are going to be one step closer to ensuring that you are getting a good price when you go to more than one player. Don't forget that by doing this you are granted the ability to properly compare prices.

You should also make sure that you ask as many questions as possible of the dealer. You want to make sure that you get an understanding into the cars that they have available. Be sure that you ask which year the cars are and if they are going to be new or used. You could get a great deal on a demo model for instance that hasn't had an owner but does have miles on the clock. This is like getting a new car for the price of a second hand one.

It is clear that it is a good idea to make sure that you are not hasty when you go on the lookout for a Japanese car exporter. If you do take your time then you will soon see that you have made a great savings and that you are going to get the best deal. - 21396

Are Chrome Bulbs Legal in Your State?

By David Ostiguy

You're probably planning on adding chrome bulbs to your vehicle, but you're not quite sure whether they're legal or not. If you've read up on chrome bulbs on the internet, you'll see that everybody says that they're street legal, but then you may have heard that some of the items who claim to be DOT (Department of Transportation) Approved usually doesn't mean squat when you get pulled over by the Police.

When it comes to adding modification bulbs to your vehicle, keep in mind that it is illegal to add red and blue bulbs to your car. Unless if you car is named KITT, you shouldn't add a red light to the front of your vehicle. It's mandatory that you also have amber turn signal bulbs and running lights installed to your vehicle. This law does apply to all 50 states of the United States of America.

So will your chrome bulbs keep you from getting pulled over? Will the installed chrome bulbs meet the required guidelines to keep you out of trouble? Always remember that each state and country varies when it comes to traffic laws, but as long as your blinker lights shine amber when they're on, you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever.

Stealth Auto has created a chrome bulb that knocks the socks off of all the other bulbs out there. They blend in with no hint of yellow in the bulb. Once the turn signal is turned on, the bulb shines amber. Stealth Auto bulbs are approved by the DOT, but as I said before, remember that this usually doesn't mean anything to the Police when they're pulling you over.

Be sure to check the state auto laws and regulations in the state that you live in. It's advised to check for the information you're looking for at DMV.ORG.

Remember when it comes to other vehicle modifications, such as HID Headlights, the laws are different in each state. - 21396
