The Best in Modern American Muscle Cars

By Mike Stone

What makes the powerful American muscle car so strong today is the fact you can get them for a fraction of what a luxury car is priced.

The car world is dominated by German and Japanese made cars. That's not a bad thing, but real American engines are still around. You just have to look for them.

There are always good American cars, but the problem has been options and keeping car lines continuing. If you want American muscle cars that are both affordable for the average person, loud and fast too, this article will detail three of the more important American modern muscle cars available.

Before we go there, what do modern American muscle cars need to be considered important? American muscle cars of quality should have some "amp" to them, roar loud like the corvette, and be fast, going from 0-60 in no time.

Oddly enough, the vintage cars we now call muscle cars were just V-8 engines put into small cars. The movement for better and better muscle cars drew definite interest from the automobile industry, and we've seen lines like the Pontiac GTO rise, fall, and rise again.

The Cadillac CTS-V is a highly rated modern American muscle car, as are the Chryster 300 Hemi and the Pontiac GTO. Many consider the Pontiac GTO to be the first muscle car, and therefore the first American muscle car. It's an interesting story; a designer wanted to drive something home from work in something faster; he thought of putting a bigger engine in a car. And we have our classic muscle car.

In terms of the most affordable American muscle cars, there are still some options if you want to race a bit over the speed limit. These three have varying price ranges, but are high value for what you get.

Let's consider the Cadillac CTS-V. The pros here are the modern muscle cars' incredible power. It's got a supercharged 6.2 V8 engine, with some incredible horsepower numbers pushing 550. And you can go 0-60 in 4.3. The only clear con to this modern American muscle, if you could call it a con, is the basic seats and the price tag, nw at $60,000.

The Chrysler 300 Hemi is another one of those horsepower killers, with a nice and big grille, but the engine and price are the real stories for this baby. She clocks in around 5 to 5.5 in 0-60 with her 340+ horsepower, and is one of the more affordable American modern muscle cars available, starting at about $23,000.

The Chrysler 300 Hemi is second on horsepower to the Cadillac, but nice look with a big grille and lots of noise. She clocks in around 5 to 5.5 in 0-60 with her 340+ horsepower. The big saver for this vehicle is new models are less than $25,000. For value for money, you've got a winner.

You've seen the prices of modern American muscle cars. You might cross out the Cadillac CTS-V, but it's likely the best car here. For history, the GTO might get it. For sheer power, the winner is the Cadillac CTS. For a combination of price and power, you've got the Chrysler 300 Hemi. It's almost a draw. For modern muscle cars, with the price and power just right, the Chrysler 300 Hemi is the winner. - 21396

Discover Features And Benefits And Features Of Insurance Quotes Online

By Lewis Culbreath

You can get auto insurance quotes online in two ways. One is to go directly to the website of your preferred insurance company. The other is to use sites that offer quotes from different underwriters. These sites allow you to immediately compare multiple quotes from several companies. All you need to do is enter some basic information such as your name, zip code, make and model of the car and the like.

One big benefit of online insurance quotes is that you save precious time and money. In a matter of minutes, you may have already compared a multiple of quotes from different companies; whereas you could still be on your way driving to where you were supposed to meet an agent. Also, the rates you will be given are the same rates you will get if you were sitting down with an agent. Even payments can be made online.

Different companies use different factors to that affect the rates they will charge. Although a state may not have a specific list of what factors can be used, it does have a list of those that cannot be used. Religion and race, for example, cannot be used as basis for auto insurance premiums.

Insurance companies more commonly use gender, age, marital status and similar information to gauge which risk level a prospective client belongs to. The weight each factor is given may differ from one company to another. As such, premiums differ although the quotations are based on the same information.

Insurance companies also check on claims that were made in the past. A history of multiple accidents, or severe ones, may be cause for a premium to be higher than normal. Where the no fault clause is followed, underwriters consider the claims either party has made.

If you think that you will be considered a high-risk driver, then it will be best to get quotations from underwriters that specialize in this market segment. For instance, students, based on data, have been classified as high-risk drivers. The same goes for drivers with a list of previous accidents. Any violation or pending ticket should also be reported, as a ticket unaccounted for can be enough reason for a policy to be cancelled.

Because you will not want to be paying very low premiums only to find out years later that your insurance company has declared bankrupt, check their ratings. There are companies that give ratings to insurance underwriters based on their capacity to pay out claims or financial stability. Never make an uneducated purchase. It may cost you your financial stability too.

What you can do is to get multiple quotations from the websites that offer auto insurance quotes only from companies with a B rating or better. Choose a couple of good deals, and then go the individual websites of those companies. You can either set up appointments with their agents or choose to pay online if your chosen underwriter has a secured payment option on its site. Remember that a low premium is not always a good deal. Check the coverage carefully. Ensure that benefits match those required by the state law. In case you travel often, being covered when you are out of state should be non negotiable. - 21396

What You Need To Learn When Learning To Drive

By John Robertson

Learning to drive is a very nerve wracking experience for the person learning and the person teaching. So lets say you have a nervous mother, well then you should probably have someone else teach you because I can tell you from experience your nervous mother is only going to get more nervous. Which can lead to yelling, shrieking, and all around freaking out. I only tell you this because I am a mother who does the freaking out.

Your experience while learning to drive can teach you a lot. The more time spent on honing your different skills in different conditions can help you to remain confident and calm while driving. You will also be more prepared and quicker to react to any challenging situation.

The first thing you should do is practice in an empty parking lat so you can learn how the car handles in certain situations. Practice the braking and turning. After you have practiced the basics of driving in forward, reverse, and braking and you know how to handle the car then it is time to move on to back roads to practice more skills.

There is less traffic on back roads so it will be safer for you and other drivers while you are learning techniques such as the right speed to turn a curve, stopping completely at stop signs, keeping a following distance that is safe, making left turns on two lane roads, and keeping a constant speed while going uphill.

Before you drive on the bigger and busier street you will need to master all of these skills first. Once you have then you will learn to change lanes properly, merge into traffic, maintain a safe speed, and use on and off ramps. You will find that there are several techniques you will need to master.

Learning to anticipate and watch for problems from other drivers is very important. Cars that switch lanes without signaling or that pull in front of you can be very dangerous. As a new driver it is hard to anticipate what another driver is going to do, or what speed and distance is required for any given situation. These are safety habits that will develop once you have some driving experience.

When you have gotten comfortable with these skills you will need to start practicing in more conditions. Driving at dusk or dawn can be dangerous because of the glare the sun puts on the windshield, but you will need to practice this anyway. Driving at nighttime will greatly diminish your visibility but you should practice this as well. After that you will want to learn to drive at a safe speed on slick roads so you should practice in rainy or snowy weather.

Now that you have the skills to drive you should probably consider learning some proper maintenance for you car such as: changing a tire, pumping gas, jump starting a car, and maintaining air pressure in the tires. You will then have all of the necessary skills to start driving. Always buckle your seat belt, adjust your seat and the mirrors, and always under no circumstance should you break any safety rules. It is a fabulous experience to drive but when the safety rules are not followed things can go horribly wrong very quickly. - 21396

The Characters of Honda Inverter Generators

By Frank Froggatt

When it comes to the home and portable generator trade, nothing has been quite as exciting as the new line of inverter Generators from Honda. These Generators are bar none the best little machines to give you quiet operation, plenty of juice, light weight, and maximum fuel economy. Add to this Honda's reputation for excellent Premium, and these new Generators are great news.

Regular gas Generators are acceptable for running certain electrical appliances, such as lights and televisions. If you need to run things like computers however or other sensitive electronic equipment and you'll find that a regular generator doesn't really cut the mustard all the time. In order for your computer and electronic equipment to work correctly, they require an even electrical signal. The electricity generated from regular gas Generators can tend to fluctuate; not a problem for lights, televisions, or coffee pots, but a possible disaster for more sensitive equipment.

The solution to this problem is the Honda inverter generator. The inverter generator comes with a microchip is that works to regulate the flow of electricity to mimic what you would get from a normal outlet in your home. Because of this regulated electricity flow you don't have to worry about damaging your sensitive equipment when plugging it into a Honda inverter generator.

Another reason that these Generators are so totally cool is the fact that being only half the size and weight of a regular generator they provide just as much power. The alternator is built right into the Honda inverter generator, making it much more compact and light, and giving it exceptional portability. You're not going to find a generator that gets better fuel economy as one of the smaller 30 pound models can run eight hrs on one tank of gas, and the larger 46 pound model will give you 15 hrs of runtime on a single tank. And as far as how loud they are, when most people run one of these Generators you can barely even tell that it is in use.

Despite the fact that the Honda inverter generator is so efficient, you still want to make sure that you pick out the right model for requirements. Even though Honda inverter Generators are smaller and lighter than their conventional counterparts, there are still different sizes from which to select. The standard rule does apply with Honda inverter Generators: the larger the model, the more work it will do.

When shopping for a Honda inverter generator, keep in mind the tasks that you will require it to perform, and buy accordingly. The salespeople and technicians at Honda should be able to help you find the Honda inverter generator that suits your purposes. - 21396

Adaptive Cruise Control: The Evolution Of Cruising

By Eric Driver

Back in the 1950s, Chrysler introduced a feature into their automobiles that allowed drivers to set the speed at which they were driving. Rather than having to actively watch their speedometer and make continuous adjustments, motorists could program the system to maintain a defined speed. There was one problem: the feature could not identify the distance between the driver's vehicle and objects that lay in front of him. Placing too much trust in the system often resulted in rear-end traffic collisions.

Automakers have developed a new version of the traditional feature: adaptive cruise control (ACC). Below, you'll discover how the technology works and the advantages it offers. We'll also take a brief look at what the future holds for ACC.

How Does Adaptive Cruise Control Work?

The newer system not only allows drivers to set a defined speed, but it also keeps track of objects that lie in their path. That includes other cars, pedestrians, and stationary objects. The feature is programmed to maintain a specific "safe distance" between the driver's vehicle and everything else. When it identifies a need, the ACC will moderate the throttle and apply the brakes.

There are a couple ways in which adaptive cruise control can monitor the landscape in front of the driver. The first is by using microwave radar. The second is to rely upon cameras that are positioned at the front of the vehicle. When either technology identifies a potential hazard, it will calculate the speed and distance required to maintain the motorist's safety. Then, it will send that data to the car's computer, which will make the necessary adjustments to the throttle and brakes.

The Advantages Of ACC

A large number of annual traffic accidents are rear-end collisions. In fact, according to data released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 30% of the 6 million reported traffic accidents in 2005 were rear-ends. Because adaptive cruise control monitors the presence and speed of objects that lie in the driver's path, it can help prevent rear-end collisions.

Another benefit of ACC is that it can bring a vehicle to a full stop, if necessary. Then, when vehicles ahead of the motorist begins to move forward, the system can instruct the car's computer to accelerate. This can be especially useful in congested traffic.

Into The Future

Automakers are continuing to develop the technology that drives adaptive cruise control systems. They are integrating other safety features, such as air bags, seat belts, and lane change warning devices to improve overall safety. For example, the ACC sensors can send data to the car's computer that will instruct it to prepare the air bags for deployment if a collision is imminent.

While adaptive cruise control systems are costly and therefore, more prevalent in high-end vehicles, that is likely to change over the next few years. The technology will become less expensive. Declining costs will encourage automakers to install ACC within a greater portion of their respective fleets. Within a decade, most drivers will enjoy the safety advantages these systems offer. - 21396
