Cars And Future

By Cristian Truers

The biggest change will be that cars themselves will be electric-powered, diluting the meaning of the word "automotive electronics." It's not that electricity or software will change cars but that cars themselves will become electricity, so to speak.

In other words, cars will be linked to electric power systems in the future. And it is becoming more and more likely that gasoline vehicles will change into hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars, and then into pure electric cars.

Of course, there are other possibilities like clean diesel cars and bio fuel cars though fuel-cell vehicles exist to the side of them, I would say. But trains proved one hundred years ago that electric motors are better actuators for conveyances if there is enough infrastructure to supply electricity.

When viewed in this light, the trend shifting from hybrid cars to plug-in hybrid cars and to pure electric cars is becoming more and more prominent. This trend will become even stronger after the G8 Hokkaido-Toyako Summit though it is also being influenced by soring oil price.

When cars are linked to electric force systems, their characteristics will change. I mean, they will be charged with a tiny amount of electricity at a time and will be charged more often. In other words, they will become like trains.

What's the difference between trains and cars? Trains move while being supplied with energy from outside. And cars run carrying most of the energy they need.

Currently, cars run 400-500km (250-313 miles) on a single fueling and at a maximum speed of 160km (100 miles) per hour because auto makers have made efforts to develop cars that can be used anytime, anywhere and by anyone.

However, do all cars really have to have those capabilities? Considering how they are used in reality, I think many people would be satisfied with cars that can run 20km (13 miles) a day and at a maximum speed of 100km (63 miles) per hour.

The travel distance of 400-500km is long enough to drive in the middle of the Sahara desert. It does not make sense to use that kind of car in urban areas.

When I chat about a automobile that can store tiny energy, people frequently request me, 'what will you do whether it runs out of energy?' But, how numerous people drive to the areas where they cannot recharge their cars until the cars stop? We only need cars that meet our needs. - 21396

Importance of Solid Rubber Tires

By Benedict Perez

The solid rubber tires have gained extraordinary popularity in these days due to several developments that have affected their existence. These are constructed using fundamental materials such as rubber and some molding materials along with other compound chemical for hardening to ensure compression and durability as well as long lasting endurance. These are commonly seen to be without treads and coverings as usually used in bicycles.

Considering the composition and structure of these gears, the wear and tear at a shorter period is very inevitable. The use of sole solid rubber tires on heavy trucks or other huge vehicles that carry heavy loads are not practical due to the limitation on speed that must be observed when using them. With these types of running gears under the bodies of large vehicles do not last long especially in areas where the road condition is not very poor.

Before the rubber tire had emerged, the earliest version of this running gear was simply made of metal in bands that were fitted around a wooden wheel. The use of these types of running gears in vehicles had also caused damages on the pavements. The running or driving capacity of the vehicles was quite limited due to the limitation imposed on the gears.

The modern solid rubber tires are built for extreme use and abusive applications where foam-filled or pneumatic tires cannot last. The modern innovations are constructed with treads and corresponding bodies. The purpose of the treads is to provide traction while the bodies ensure for their support. These are used to protect the wheels and to enable better driving performance of the vehicle.

There are websites that can be found on the internet of certain manufacturers of these gears. Online manufacturers have professionally trained representatives and experts who can readily address your concerns to meet your needs. If you want to know more about these types of materials for your vehicles for whatever application you have in mind, you can check online and search on the best dealers or manufacturer of solid rubber tires. - 21396

Shiny New Epoxy Garage Floor

By Eppie G Florence

If you'd like to know what it would be like to drive onto your own personal auto showroom floor, you may want to give thought to an epoxy garage floor. This type of floor is not only durable, but it's also very shiny. Imagine seeing your own car in the floor's reflection, be it either a brand new car or your old '76 beater that's seen better days. An epoxy garage floor coating is viewed as the best in garage flooring to many, and for very good reason. Epoxy garage floors last a very long time, often as long as the concrete itself, though you will have to sacrifice quite a lot of time, and there is a bit of difficulty. Every once in a while the garage floor paint will have to be refreshed with a new coat, but other than that, the initial install covers most of the work. Epoxy will not move or crumple under car tires, which is a problem with some other garage floor coverings.

Durable Epoxy Garage Flooring

Extremely tough, epoxy is a very long-lasting coating that is painted onto concrete. Different than normal paint, epoxy will resist grease, oils, and many other things that ruin or plain out dissolve ordinary paints. Regular paint wouldn't be able to handle things like motor oils since they're mostly oil based themselves, which means you need a special type of paint, such as epoxy. This is because when two oil based substances mix, they naturally attempt to combine with each other. This effect causes motor oil and paint to basically be mutually self destructive. Parts cleaner, grease, fuel, power steering fluid, brake fluid...all are petroleum based, and all have the same effect on petroleum based paints. It's actually pretty interesting if you start thinking of just how petroleum based most of our lives' are. That's what's great about epoxy based paints, though. Since they're resin based, they're not susceptible to damage from oil and oil based substances.

Old Shiny Epoxy Garage Floors

Of all the different types of garage flooring, the epoxy garage floor is unique in that it bonds with the concrete at a microscopic level. This means that once the epoxy coating is years, sometimes decades old, it can still be cleaned just like the concrete by itself. The difference is that it doesn't stain since it doesn't absorb the oil based chemicals that are so often found in garages. Since it doesn't stain, it's usually just a matter of power washing the garage floor, if that. Most chemicals will just sit on top of an epoxy coating and can be cleaned up with either a towel, or possibly pushed out of the garage with a squeegee or broom. Be careful, though, that you don't contaminate the earth around your garage with chemicals that, before, you would've absorbed with kitty litter or the like and thrown in the trash. Just because it doesn't damage your garage floor doesn't mean it won't damage the environment, and everything that hits your soil will eventually end up in the groundwater - that's drinking water.

Epoxy Garage Floor Coatings In Pretty Colors

Epoxy coatings usually come in gray. It's a very shiny, very attractive gray, but it's still very gray. Now just because it's gray doesn't mean you're not going to notice a marked improvement over your cement garage floor, because you certainly will. However, lots of people would rather add some sort of color, and it is possible. Unfortunately, many times your local hardware store won't have anything but gray epoxy coatings. In fact, it's not uncommon for these hardware stores to tell you there's no such thing as colored epoxy, that it's all gray, which is simply not true. Sometimes it does take some looking, but epoxy garage floor coating kits are in good supply on the web, and usually a lot cheaper than the hardware store. Odds are pretty good that, compared to other things, you'd have no reason to return a garage floor kit, and the ability to return things is my biggest worry when it comes to buying on the net.

The Great Concrete Garage Floor War: Will Epoxy Win?

Maybe. Well, probably. Epoxy does require a lot of preparing, as opposed to just about any other type of garage floor. Some concrete, though, simply can't take a good epoxy coating. Even should your concrete be determined to be in good enough condition to accept a coating, it will have to be cleaned and etched, which is extremely tedious and labor intensive. There's really no method of applying an epoxy garage floor that is for the faint of heart, or faint of back, for that matter. If you're like me, and aren't exactly in the best of shape, you may want to consider something a bit less intensive. Garage floor tiles, for instance, can be started and finished pretty much whenever you like, without regard to time limits and setting times. Small garage floor mats can be moved about when you need to, so sometimes they're all you need. However, if your body or bank account are up to the task, an epoxy garage floor coating just might be for you. - 21396

HID Xenon Kits: Legal or Not Legal for the UK

By Ethan Melandri

When HID Xenon headlights were first offered as a factory fitted option by prestige manufacturers in the 1990's they really transformed the night driving experience. Producing over 300% more light than standard halogen lights, lasting ten time longer and looking extremely cool with their powerful blue white tint, HID xenon lights soon became the must have fashion accessory.

Cars that have regular halogen bulbs are boring when you view the HID xenon lights. This is why there are retro fit HID xenon kits that help you convert your headlights. Unfortunately the question arises as to whether they are really street legal for public roads.

The simple answer to the legality of HID kits is "No, they are not legal", however as with most things, the real answer is not as simple as that. To get a clear understanding of these xenon conversion kits legality you need to look carefully into the legal requirements of HID kits.

The Department of Transport has a legal stand on HID kits. It states that the xenon HID lights can be legal if they are fitted with proper levelling suspension i.e. self levelling headlights that have a self cleaning function and can be fitted to the headlight unit. There also needs to be a rating of E mark that fits the European specifications on the headlights you use. Headlight basically describes the bulb, outer lens, and reflector.

Retailers will advertise that their kits are E marked, and that they have self cleaning and self levelling suspension that fits within the law. The truth is less than what is advertised. In fact it is mostly untrue. The Department of Transport stated in their statement that HID kits are not permitted when converting from halogen units to HID bulbs and it is an offence to supply, fit or use vehicle parts which are not considered legal.

If you want HID xenon headlights in a car that has halogen headlight bulbs and you want to remain within the laws there is only one option. You must go to the manufacturer of your car to see if they have factory fitted xenon lights for your model car. You can then purchase the factory option and have them installed at a licensed factory. The Department of Transport does recognise these factory units as legal replacements and thus you can have HID bulbs on your vehicle.

The downside to this option is that factory offered HID xenon replacements are not cheap. In fact it could cost as much as 3000 for the change. Your other option is to go with a less expensive upgrade from halogen to regular xenon bulbs. HID xenon bulbs are not the same as xenon bulbs. The other xenon bulbs do not need a HID kit; instead they fit in the halogen connector and holder. The difference is the xenon light has xenon gas, not halogen gas.

There are two top upgrades you can purchase called the Osram Night Braker and the Philips Extreme Power bulbs. These two options emit up to 90 percent more light and up to 35 metres more distance than halogen. They are also 10 percent whiter than halogen. The best part to this option is that they are street legal because no modification is necessary. You can install them without invalidating your insurance or getting stopped by the constabulary.

Whilst upgrade xenon bulbs will never be as bright as full HID kits, they are road legal, vastly superior to ordinary halogen bulbs and will cost you only around 20. So if you are after the HID lights look but want to stay legal, fit upgrade xenon bulbs and with the money you have saved you can put it towards making sure that you next car comes with HID xenon lights as standard. - 21396

The Versatility And Dependability Of a Golf Cart

By Gregory Paul

When I was working in a customer service company some time ago, I had an officemate who lives in a subdivision less than a kilometer away from the office. Beside his subdivision is a golf course where we often hang out in the weekends. It was always a delight to see him arriving at work in a golf cart. He said he saves quite a bit driving that thing to the office every day. After office hours, he was always a hit when he parks his rig at the mall parking lot beside our workplace.

Maybe owning a cart for myself will prove to be economical. Renting a golf cart every time I need one is costing me quite a bit. I can even see it as a means of transportation in a retirement community. I remember my friend in the mall parking lot with his cart. Moving around that huge facility and looking for a place to park was never a problem to him and his rig.

A new rig would be something but I think I can also be comfortable in a used golf cart. A new machine will cost me quite some cash, but it has full factory warranty that comes with the purchase. I will also be taught of its roper care and maintenance since day one.

A new golf cart's cost varies from $5000 to $10000 depending on the features and accessories. With added features, comes the added cost. One can go extremely frugal and shave away the bare necessities and probably get a new one for under $5000. I don't think I would like a stripped cab though.

On the other hand, a used cart can really go easy on my pocket. I can look for a local individual party but I am not familiar with golf mechanics so that might not be a great idea. I might be able to find a local golf cart dealer that can provide me some type of repair service deal that comes with a used cab.

A used golf cart's price range is very widely varied depending on the model, accessories and it's shape. I should be able to find one in near perfect condition. I just need to have a trusted mechanic take look at it and give me some advise before I make a decision.

Another consideration would be going for a gas or an electric powered cab. I heard that an electric golf cart is easier to maintain but I will be changing batteries every few years or so and that would cost me around $500 every time. My officemate told me that after some time, maintenance of both types works out pretty much the same so it really wouldn't matter so much.

With the proper care and regular maintenance, whether it is a gas or electric powered machine, A new or used golf cart will provide you good service for ten years - could even be more. - 21396
