The Role Of Childrens Car Seats

By Amanda Gamdana

Safety is a priority with parents, and this is reflected in the amount of time and money they are willing to spend on a car seat for their child. 5 percent of the child safety seats inspected. As the study suggests, many parents actually put the child in danger by not using the restraint properly. Typically, the biggest mistakes were loose harness straps and safety belt attachments. The NHTSA classifies these as 'critical' errors, because of the potential risk they could cause the child.

So how do you know make sure of keeping your newborn safe?

Always use the correct seat for your baby's age and weight and in the correct position. For children who are a year old and not yet 20 pounds, they can usually be placed in a rear-facing position in their car seats. For both their size and their design, infant-only seats are carefully crafted especially for the smaller children. Make sure your infant car seat is placed in the back seat of your car, and only in the rear-facing position.

Many parents do not see the purpose of an infant-only seat, choosing instead to go with a more flexible convertible seat. Out of necessity to accommodate a growing child, these car seats are larger and more bulky. Convertible seats allow parents to put any child that would be placed in a rear-facing infant-only seat in the same position. You can go ahead and place any child that is 20-40 pounds in a front-facing position. Far more important than the style of seat is that the parent use it exactly as it was designed to be used.

The car seat should buckle into the car, and the baby should buckle into the seat. Of the critical components that the study by the NHTSA found, the biggest majority dealt with parents who did not have the harness strap in the right slot or fitting snuggly enough. If strapping the harness into a slot position in a convertible, the appropriate slots are above or at the shoulder; if using an infant car seat, the appropriate place is below. Harness clips should hold the untwisted straps around armpit level - for exact placement double check the guide that came with the seat.

It helps seat belt placement to recline the seat 45 degrees; always double check that your seat belt is in the right path for the position of the seat. Another tip is to include a rolled up towel that you can place under the seat. Tighten the seat belt, as needed, to ensure the restraint is secured to your vehicle. Every car that has a LATCH system has special requirements, and those mean that the parent should read their owner guides, to both their car and their car seat, to make sure their seat is installed correctly. If you purchase a seat that is not new, make sure you check it's age and condition.

When buying a used seat, be sure to get one that has all its instructions and is less than five years old. Along with the owner's manual, your seat should have all its parts, and should have never been involved in any type of car accident. - 21396

Teen Auto Insurance In Florida -- Safety And Cheaper Rates

By Chimezirim Gabriel Odimba

Florida Car insurance companies consider teen drivers as the highest risks with respect to age groups. They are known to have more crashes than the combination of all other age groups and many parents would be happy if they accept to NOT drive. Even while this may work for a number of families, it might not work in many others.

Peer pressure makes it difficult for them to be the only teens in the block who aren't allowed to drive yet. So what can you do to both ensure your teen driver safer and bring down the typically high car insurance rates associated with teen drivers? This piece will show you how...

Car Insurance For Teenagers

Most teens will tell you they are grown-ups once it comes to privileges. However, if you want to help your teenager really grow up, let them know that with every privilege come some responsibilities.

If it makes sense in your circumstance, let them pay for their car insurance or at least bear a part of their auto insurance premium. Whatever suggestions you make thereafter that will help reduce what they pay will be more easily accepted because they're the ones paying and they will also be the ones to benefit from lower Florida car insurance rates.

Your teen driver would be safer and ultimately attract lower rates for their Florida car insurance policy if they do the following...

1) Don't allow them to drive in the company of their peers unless you or an adult you can trust is in the car with them.

2) It's important for your teen's safety that he/she does not drive in the night. And, where it becomes inevitable, go over things they must bear in mind.

Reports show that accidents happen more between the hours of 9.00pm and 2.00am.

3) If they drink then they must not drive. For their safety they should not touch the steering wheels even if all they took was just a sip.

4) Let your teen know that they shouldn't race on the highway and let them know the risk they run if they do.

Have a stiff sanction if they violate speed limits or traffic laws.

5) Encourage your teen to tell you wherever they want to drive to and know in whose company it will be if any. It may be hard sometimes but there are place where your teen is better off using public transport.

I Know these things will really work where you already have a great relationship with your teen. Nevertheless you can lower your teen's rates by getting and comparing quotes. - 21396

Instrument Panel Designs Can Make A Difference In Safety And Repairs

By Zach Jacobs

If you drive a car often, such as going to places like work, the store, or the school, then you should be familiar with the instrument cluster and the instrument panel. The instrument cluster is the control system at the back of the car?s dashboard.

The utmost purpose of this entire control system is to make all the output devices perform well. Most of the instrument clusters nowadays are digital, including the speedometer. These are found in classic cars such as the Lincoln and the Cadillac. However, some vehicles still have the traditional mechanical gauges.

In the past, car dashboards were much simpler. They contained just a speedometer. As time passed, more and more parts were added and its entire collection was called the instrument cluster. These additional features were the vents, heating and lighting controls and other audio accessories.

Other cars even have the modern GPS feature. Many car enthusiasts love this feature. However, some find it a bit costly to even have in their vehicles. It is proven though to be more useful in the long run. Lately, the designs are made to be very easy to read even while driving.

The instrument panel helps a lot in educating the driver with regards to the current condition of the vehicle. It can serve as a good warning sign of any possible trouble that the car may be experiencing. Over time, the manufacturers of various car brands of today have given it some thought to help expand the awareness and safety level features of the instrument panel.

The warning lights started becoming a part of the instrument panel to help the driver be more aware of the car?s condition sooner. These are very applicable when the car is overheating or the car is low on gas.

This way, the driver would just be able to read the gauges even just at a glance. Just through the lights blinking, you can tell what the car is actually going through. Hence, a lot of people should be made more knowledgeable about the concept of the instrument panel.

The uses of the instrument cluster and the instrument panel should be given more attention by any car enthusiasts and driver. Paying attention to the instrument cluster can make a big difference in repair cost if you heed the warnings. - 21396
