By Johnny Robertson

The minimum legal age limit for driving has been set at 18 in most parts of the world. This precaution has been taken to help lower the death rate. Driving fast and doing stunts on road are favorite hobbies of youngsters but care must be taken. And, youth must be warned and informed about the side effects and all the harmful injuries this behavior can lead to. This issue is of extreme importance and if safety precautions are not imposed then it will raise the death rate of youngsters in the country. You can avoid harmful injuries by some useful safety precautions. Following are some useful tips to avoid deadly accident injuries. Many of those tips are found in driving articles.

The first rule of safety is to always use a seat belt. If children are taught to use seat belts from an early age, it is only natural that they continue to use seat belts when they begin to drive. Many vehicles are equipped with lights and buzzers that help to enforce this rule.

Always take time to adjust all mirrors before leaving your driveway. This precaution allows you to see traffic on all sides of your vehicle. Mirrors are not meant just for an occasional check to see what is happening, but should be used at all times so that you are aware of what is happening all around you.

The use of headlights even in the daylight makes your vehicle more visible. Oncoming traffic is more likely to see your vehicle. At night, you are able to see the road ahead as well as any hazards that may be there. Use of headlights increases your safety.

Maintain a speed that is the same as surrounding traffic. Keep that speed steady but within the speed limit. Using this options avoids a collision. One key to avoiding deadly accidents is to keep your speed constant.

Do not forget to use your turn signals. Use them every time you turn and every time you change lanes. Proper turn signal use warns other drivers that you are about to make changes. Other drivers should not have to be a mind reader to drive safely when you are on the road.

Remember to use your horn whenever you need to do so. While the use of a horn should be done sparingly, the horn is a quick way to warn other drivers who may not see you. If you must stop on the shoulder or in a lane of traffic, use emergency flashers to warn others of your vehicle's presence.

Be sure that you observe all warning signs. Stop at traffic signals and stop signs. Yield when told to do so. Observe caution lights and signs. This knowledge is commonly tested for on a driving test.

Watch traffic that is ahead of you. You should be able to anticipate at least 15 to 20 seconds in front of your vehicle. Advanced warning can often be the difference between a narrow escape and an accident with injury or fatality. Staying awake and alert will keep you safe. - 21396
