The Many Reasons To Salvage Harley Davidson Motorcycles

By George Bothwell

For those familiar with the brand, there is much motivation to salvage Harley Davidson motorcycles. Whether it be for their controversy, or their place in American culture, this is a brand to be reckoned with.

Whether you are an avid historian, a motorcycle enthusiast, or a person attracted to outlaw culture, there are many reasons to appreciate this brand. This article will examine the cultural value and the subsequent reason for salvaging products from this great American company.

Perhaps no other motorcycle company has more fans than Harley Davidson. This popularity has grown so wide that the company has gained a foothold in merchandise sales, such as clothing and other accessories.

Simple name recognition is not the only reason to salvage an old bike. The distinct design and craftsmanship are also greatly enjoyed by many a rider.

Aside from the technical appreciation, salvaging a Harley for the sake of historical significance is also appropriate. For not only are these bikes associated with the grand tradition of American motorcycle culture, the film "Easy Rider" has resulted in pop culture prominence as well.

Aside from mechanical and historical significance, the attraction to this brand also stems from its association with outlaw behavior. Although this is not something that is necessarily approved of by all Harley owners, this brand is certainly the choice of outlaws.

Moreover, in choosing to salvage rather than to buy new, you are reclaiming a piece of the outlaw past. For it could be said that old Harleys are not only simpler in mechanical design than the new ones, but the stories attached to each old bike supply a character that cannot be bought.

Whether for its historical significance, or the cultural connections associates with is, to salvage a Harley Davidson is a decision well made. In doing so you now know that this is a brand well worth saving. - 21396
