Drivers Ed What You Need To Know

By John Robertson

The United States driver's education program has standard requirements. Each state may add specifics requirements incorporating features that are necessary to obtain a legal driving license. The US requires first time drivers to complete X-amount of hours taking a course for driving. Learning about drivers ed has many advantages.

Some drivers need a refresher course and in some states require those with accident tickets and speeding tickets to take it. The rules of the road change over the years and a refresher course covers the changes. Classroom time is required and time behind the wheel driving is called "drivers training".

Drivers' training requires a licensed driver in the car at all times. Keep a log of time, dates, where, and when you returned. A documented log of training is proof you will need. The muscle memory needs to develop in order to react in situations when reasoning is out and reacting is the only choice. Accidents happen fast and there is not time to figure out what to do.

A great way to learn to drive without danger, is with driving simulators. Some driver's education programs are equipped with the newest technology for maximum exposure. In Cities, the roads are too busy for new drivers and the experience with simulators proves to work.

Statistics prove the youngest drivers are the high-risk group. Sixteen-year-old drivers are in more accidents than other age groups. New strategies called "graduated license programs" are helping narrow that stat. Some states offer this program and some will not.

Coming in second are the older drivers who experience loss of vision, reacting slowly, and hearing loss. Statistics prove that the accidents relate to abilities for driving. They may have to take a drivers test before renewing their state license.

Each state in the US can have their rules and requirements. California requires; 30 periods of fifty minutes each of classroom instructions. Classes are seven hours a day, at the most in one class sitting. They must use five contemporary video tapes or film of 180 minutes of class time.

New York first requires a learners permit and enrollment in class. The permit must be for a time of six months. Certificates issued for twenty hours of driving time then fill out an application for junior driver's license. Once completed the seventeen year old upgrades to a class D license. States form rules to fit their statistics and correct problems being cause from drivers.

Texas, you can get a "hardship license" at age 15 years old. First, complete the classroom section of the requirements and complete a written exam. Hold a valid instruction permit or hardship license for 6 months. Next, completion of the driving time required. When a teen turns 16 years old, they apply for a Class C license. At age 17 they apply for a Class A or B. The last step is to obtain an unrestricted driver's license.

These are a few of the US requirements about drivers ed in America. Driving is a serious responsibility to ones self and to everyone driving the highways and roads. Learn all that you can about the language used between drivers. Always follow the rules of the road. - 21396
