What does an Auto ECM and a PCM Do?

It is undeniable that computers have been all around us each day. You likely work using a computer and your payments are also processed through computers. However, little did we know that even cars have their own computers? These are found in the engines and are very much useful in terms of controlling some functions in the car.

Two computers are present in vehicles. These are the auto ECM and the pcm module. They are working according to the specific jobs that they are programmed to do.

For instance, the auto ECM is responsible for the overall performance and emission control of the car. This is for the benefit of extending great concern to the environment and preventing extra pollutants from adding up to the current state of pollution.

The auto ECM is the one responsible in monitoring the ECT or the coolant in the engine. What the ECM does is that it uses its sensor to in order to stabilize the temperature in the engine. However, if the ECM notices that the engine is not cooling down after the specified time frame, it will then note that there is an issue with the cooling system that is preventing normal start up. You will then know this problem because of the indicators in the car.

Pcm module is the next type of computer. As the auto ECM is focused more on the performance, the pcm module will take care of the mechanical works inside your vehicle like traction and braking.

As mentioned above, the main reason why the auto ECM and pcm module were developed was to prevent the car from adding too much pollution into the environment. But aside from this, it will also definitely help the car enhance its performance in order to give the driver a very good driving experience.
